Alright
Tested this product on the PC and Nintendo Switch
For the PC
Played several games with it
Played Sonic Mania thru Steam and the game played just fine
Played Doom (by id Software, Bethesda Game Studios) thru steam and a bit awkward but I had to set up the buttons and controller settings but Doom 2016 I wouldn't recommend using this controller
Played 20XX thru steam and the game played just fine
Played Megaman 11 and the game played just fine, minor/rare problem with picking up a button input sometimes
The GameCube controller was responsive, no delays and no awkward dead zones. This was true for both an old Gamecube controller from many years ago and a new Gamecube controller (Smash Ultimate).
Playing on the Nintendo Switch
Played Classic games, such as Super Mario Bros 3, and the game had an input delay
Played Splatoon 2 and the game had an input delay
Played Octopath Traveler and the game had an input delay
Played Pokemon Quest and the game had an input delay
Played Legend of Zelda BotW and the game had an input delay
Played Super Mario Odyssey and the game had an input delay
Mind you I made sure to have the adapter on the Nintendo Switch mode and not the PC mode
I also understand the Gamecube controller wasn't made for every game I tried above but the point was to see if any problems would occur and would reoccur
The PC seems to be fine but using on the Nintendo Switch that input delay is annoying
Just so you know for reference the delay is slightly less than 1 second but if you plan on using this for competitive play I would NOT recommend this product
I won't be using this for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

UPDATE: The adapter works with Nintendo Switch for Smash Bros Ultimate and as a replacement joy con for other games when no motion controls are needed.
Using the adapter in Wii U mode, plug the black usb male plug into your switch hub while using the switch in tv mode. You can now use your gamecube controllers as you would any other controller on the switch. Tested with Rocket League, Astro Bears Party, Fortnite and more. I'm hoping this holds up in December with Smash Bros Ultimate. This sounds too good to be true but could definitely save hundreds on joy cons.
Original Review:
Not many reviews talk about the PC aspect, so I'll discuss that first.
In PC mode, the controller is fully mappable as a normal joystick and supports rumble after quick installation of drivers by Mayflash's website. I have used this adapter with two versions of Project64 (with rumble support!!), SNES9x, and NEStopia: each program worked great with the controller. In Wii U mode, this works great with Dolphin, a GameCube/Wii emulator, once you follow the directions on the Dolphin website. Dolphin is preconfigured for rumble support and premapped input. Could not be happier with using this on my PC.
On the Wii U, as long as it is in Wii U mode, it works right out of the box for Smash Bros Wii U ONLY with first party wired and third party wired/wireless controllers. Have not tested this with a Wavebird GC controller yet, as I do not have one. No input lag whatsoever, was able to easily perfect pivot even though I am not a top tier competitive player.
This adapter has an amazing build, with hefty supports at each point where the cord ends. Third party controllers do not fit as snug as first party controllers into the ports, however this has caused no problems even when playing with 4 players on the PC. The switch from PC to Wii U mode is large and has the right amount of resistance so that it will not switch unintentionally but feels like it will last a long time.
All being said, if you plan to ever use this on the PC, then this is a much better option than the official adapter as you can take advantage of Dolphins Wii U mode support while having many more options than Nintendo's adapter when in PC mode. For the Wii U only this adapter is equal with Nintendo's, so pick whichever works best for you with price vs collector value.
EDIT: This does work with the Wavebird!!

Works well with the PC, allowing you to use your favorite GameCube controllers with your PC games!
About the Nintendo Switch: After Nintendo's 4.0.0 update, I was hoping that the adapter would work just like the WiiU official adapter allowing 4 GC controllers at once. Sadly, while in the WiiU mode, the controllers are not recognized. In PC mode, all controllers work as the same input (all control the same player), and the analog sticks are detected as D-Pads. I hope that Mayflash gives us a firmware update so this adapter works with our Nintendo Switches as well! Will post an update if they do.

Works exactly as intended with no lag/delay in the controls. The only reason I took off a star is that I had a lot of difficulty getting it working properly. On a Windows 10 laptop PC, I had to download a different firmware as a driver from Mayflash, and download a different program called Zadig to get my computer to actually use that new driver. On top of that, I have to keep my adapter in WiiU mode even though I use a PC for some reason. I use the Dolphin GC Emulator and there's instructions on how to do that on their website. I know compatibility is tricky, but it took me about an hour to get all that figured out and actually start playing. If I weren't somewhat tech-savvy there's no way I would have gotten this to work, hence why I only gave 4 stars for the inconvenience. It seems like other people have just been able to plug it in and play, so maybe it's just my computer, who knows. Just giving my experience.
Great alternative to the official Nintendo Adapter, and arguably better than the original.

To start things off, I've encountered ONE issue so far, and it wasn't until I got at least a year and a half of use out of the adapter. As of now, two of the ports have issues regarding ghost inputs, which may be attributed to the manufacturing of the device, or due to my repeated use. Personally, I feel it's safe to say I used my product until it's end. Anyways, I will now list Pros and Cons:
Pros:
Affordable
Durable
Wii U and PC compatible (PC compatibility requires no set-up. There is a mode switch on the back)
Compact
Cons:
Could be more aesthetically pleasing
Does not stay in place on surfaces very well
Possible port issues
All in all, it's a fantastic product that I constantly recommend over the official Nintendo-brand adapter, mostly due to the price and simple PC compatibility. Though my adapter ran into port issues after a year-and-a-half, I am still looking to buy another due to its cost-efficiency, and easy PC compatibility.

Whether it's Smash, Nintendont, or PC emulation, Mayflash has you covered, and then some!
..Smash title. This one has a switch that allows the change between WiiU and PC modes, which I assume means the old one needed hardware to work on the console, which it did not. I first tried this at a friends house with a copy of smash.Read more
I used to have the old mayflash adapter for PC in 2012 which only supported two controllers and SOME rumble compatibility, and didn't work for Smash. This one is much nicer in almost every aspect, including shape/size, build quality, and compatibility.
I bought this with the intention of testing 'Nintendont' (a home brew application that works on the Virtual Wii side of WiiU that can play NGC titles via USB/SD) as the software declares working with the Nintendo adapter for the most recent Smash title. This one has a switch that allows the change between WiiU and PC modes, which I assume means the old one needed hardware to work on the console, which it did not.
I first tried this at a friends house with a copy of smash. Worked fine, no lag as we could tell, and no input errors/ghosting. Cord length is also well above average. Smash fans, rejoice. A cheaper and just as good option exists!
Second, I tried it with the homebrew software 'Nintendont', seeing if it worked on the virtual version. I nearly inserted my actual GameCube disc since I was excited by the clean results in smash, which would have been bad (no, GameCube discs will not work and may damage your WiiU. Please do NOT try that.) The menu immediately picked up the controller like it did in the original Wii. I booted up the ISO for Kirby Air Ride and was met with excellent results. No input lag or ghosting. Now for the real precision test, I used F-Zero GX, notorious for being very sensetive to stick input and is highly customizable for dead zones, sensitivity, range, etc. I mapped the stick to the fullest and smallest ranges/zones I could and they were pixel perfect as with the Wii disc reader, and the good old GameCube itself. I was convinced at that point at how well it works.
Final testing was done with Dolphin for Windows. I was met with the same results using the same titles as it was on the WiiU. Finally, quality rumble support! I didn't have to map anything in the version I used as it already had a preset for a real GameCube pad. However, if your version doesn't pick up the pad on its own, make sure you map the triggers separately from the analog sliders to the click button when you press it all the way down. Otherwise games like Metroid Prime will have issues when locking and free aiming. To do this, go to the controller properties in devices and printers and look at the red icons lighting up to see what numbers they are.
In the end, I have to hand it to the developers at Mayflash. Product quality is definitely increasing at excellent prices. 5/5, I really cannot knock it for anything.

Techically functional, but partially faulty

DISCLAIMER: I go into detail with my experience with this product; I don't want to be vague.
So I had previously purchased a Mayflash adapter when I had a Wii U and Smash 4, and it worked perfectly.
However, in mid-2017, my friend bought my Wii U with Smash 4 and the adapter.
He doesn't have any complaints with that adapter, either.
But with a new Smash game on the horizon, and me getting a Switch soon, I figured that I'd buy another Mayflash adapter and save myself a few dollars from the official adapter.
I mean, if it worked the first time, why change brands?
That turned out to be a mistake.
With the Wii U, it was the rumble. (or lack thereof)
So I had taken the adapter to my friend's house to test it out with Smash 4, and as soon as the first match, there's something missing. For me, that is.
I'm not getting any rumble on my character.
The menus, yes. But not in the fight, where it matters the most.
I ask my friends if they're getting anything, and they said NO.
I re-plugged the adapter, and still no rumble for any of us.
So I decided to reset the Wii U, and hoorah! There was rumble.. for everyone else, but me.
So I reset it again, and I finally got it.. for ONE match, and then it stopped working again for the first slot.
The rumble was being very finicky with its functionality on the Wii U, and it ended up kind of ruining our Smash 4 session.
But hey, at least I could PLAY Smash 4; the PC mode was even MORE of a hassle.
With the PC mode, I had hooked it up to my laptop, and, per the instructions, I had installed the drivers to support rumble for PC.
I installed both the earliest AND lastest firmwares in that order.
After that, I opened up Dolphin and went to configure the controls. It didn't even register the adapter.
So I re-plugged the adapter, and now it read the controller, but the R-Trigger was stuck.
So I re-plugged it again, and now everything was good.. except for the lack of rumble. AGAIN.
Even after a re-install of the drivers, STILL no rumble.
I thought to myself: 'OK, so the rumble doesn't work, but can I still play Melee?'
Short answer: NO. NO, I COULDN'T.
Long answer: Melee was almost unplayable in Dolphin. Not performance wise. INPUT wise.
What was tight in Smash 4 was hardly responsive in Melee.
About half of all my button presses were null and void.
And I did everything mentioned above again, and it didn't change anything.
Overall, I'm mildly dissatisfied with this adapter.
I guess I just happened to get a defect, because the first one worked just fine, rumble and all. Even on PC.
Regardless, I should've just payed the few extra bucks for the official adapter, especially since they're actually able for purchase again.
For those who are skeptical, just get the official adapter, so long as it's available for a fair price.
Don't get me wrong. This was a good alternative back in the Wii U scalper times, but now it's just more of a last resort rather than an actual replacement.

Recommended for PS3 & Windows 7-10, and is perfect for dance mats and music gaming!

Just by comparing this game adapter to the EMS USB 2, this Mayflash Gamecube controller adapter is a better product mainly for support on Windows 7 onward, and for dance mat support on games like DanceDanceRevolution PC Edition, in the groove, osu! and StepMania. The EMS USB 2 is mainly optimized for Windows XP, has bad support on the 32-bit versions on Windows Vista & 7, and has no support for Windows 8 & 10. Be glad Mayflash made this Gamecube controller adapter as the ultimate product, because EMS is just too lazy to not support the EMS USB 2 recently.
Another thing is that this adapter works on PLAYSTATION®3 systems, as long as the switch is on the 'PC' mode. It works pretty well with many games, but keep in mind that some games just don't work with the Gamecube controller. For example, Destiny has the Ghost button mapped to the SELECT button, and the Gamecube adapter has no SELECT button command. Pretty much reviewing objectives, summoning the Sparrow vehicle and escaping to Orbit are unable to be done on the Gamecube controller due to the adapter itself. I tested this adapter on games with limited controller support like the NBA 2K games and THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII. They work perfectly fine, although DLC characters (on KOF XIII) cannot be accessed when using Gamecube controllers. Vibration function isn't supported on PS3 unfortunately, even if both vibration settings on the XMB and the software are turned on together, and even if the gray (vibration) plug is connected; it's just useless.
The button layout on this Gamecube controller adapter goes like this on PS3:
X = Square
A = Cross
B = Circle
Y = Triangle
L = L1
R = R1
Z = R2
START/PAUSE = START
+Control Pad = Directional Buttons
Control Stick = Left Analog Stick
C Stick = Right Analog Stick
This adapter is perfect for PS3 users who are used to playing on consoles that use letter buttons instead of geometric shape buttons, for the fun part.

I got this to use with CEMU. Out of the box, it works in PC mode fine as a dinput controller, but with no rumble. I updated the firmware and driver for PC (there's only one driver), and low and behold Cemu crashes. I did some digging around and the issue lies with the different rumble options. In Dolphin, the first two rumble options (full and ramp) work fine. Choosing any of the other numerous options (saw tooth, square etc) crashes dolphin! When Cemu scans inputs, it tests the different rumble options, and crashes when it gets to these. I can only hope that mayflash will update their drivers!

This is an acceptable substitute for the WiiU adapter, but its PC functionality is poor at best. It took quite a bit of time to get it functioning with Dolphin, and its inputs were off center, had weird sensitivity (in one Dinput title I tried it on, the characters would only ever walk, not run), and were generally poorly implemented. I'm not sure exactly what causes these problems, and in the limited time I used it with the WiiU it seemed to work as it should, but the PC usage was not as it should be. Since the Nintendo version of the adapter is back in stock and not particularly expensive, I suggest you stick with that. Apparently there are ways to configure it for PC as well, and this device is not anywhere near as 'plug and play' as advertised, so the added difficulty isn't much of a difference.

In your hand, it feels like a cheap, plastic thing, but it works as advertised. For the Wii U, it works like you would expect with no difference from the official Nintendo adapter. In PC mode, it works perfectly as well, allowing me to use my GameCube controller to play anything that I would with a controller, including games in Dolphin. There is really nothing to complain about it; perhaps the build quality? It could feel a bit heftier, but given what it is and given the price, anything more is unnecessary. It works, it won't fall apart, and it's not unattractive. It's definitely worth picking this up if you can't find the official adapter for a decent price, and I'd perhaps even recommend it over the official adapter to be honest.
Who needs that $50+ unavailable Nintendo part?

In Wii U mode, this adapter is indistinguishable from the official Nintendo one that no one can find. It even uses the same drivers. In PC mode, it works with DInput (not XInput, unfortunately) and is a bit.. off. I tried that first with Dolphin and the default settings wouldn't let me dash or drop through platforms in Project M. Once I tweaked the radius, I could do that, but I still couldn't use the C-stick consistently. However, I switched it to the unofficial drivers for the Nintendo version that Dolphin's wiki recommends and it's now perfect. And it's actually about 20% cheaper than the Nintendo one is supposed to be! Nintendo, some little Chinese company is making better, cheaper, and more available accessories for your own console. Get it together.
Works perfectly after some adjustments.

So I saw a lot of people complaining they couldn't get it to work or that they had issues. If you're using it for Dolphin you actually want to run it in Wii U and then Dolphin should detect it as the official Wii U adapter ONLY after you get the right driver for it.
Simply Google search e2xd controller guide 2.0 for the instructions (it should be hosted on smashladder).
Only use the PC mode switch when you want to play other games/emulators as a standard controller.
On the adapter itself, it's been good for me, it's sturdy and has 4 ports. It has two USB connectors but you only need the black one as the grey colored one is to power rumble.
Edit: Also make sure you use a USB 2.0 port as when I used a USB 3.0 port (blue colored on the inside), it was a bit more buggy in the responsiveness.

I have to say I wish more products were this simple and cost effective. Only special note is to ensure you plug in both usb cables so rumble will work. USB cords were long (approximately five to six feet) and everything worked fine even with three foot extensions used at a friends house.
Way to go mayflash!

Solid adapter
Good quality and works well. Has a switch to change between WiiU and pc mode, though the WiiU mode works better with dolphinEMU for GameCube games. Pc mode takes the GC controllers as generic ones and they have to be calibrated manually

It works as well as the Nintendo adapter but it was a bit of more difficult to get it to work on Mac. Works great on Windows.
It gets 5 stars because it does what it claims and is a better than the original.

Originally purchased this to use with my PC with the Dolphin emulator. While it doesn't have native support in the program, the drivers installed smoothly on my Windows 8.1 machine. I just needed to switch the PC/Wii U modes a few times to ensure all of the proper drivers were installed, and I was able to assign everything I needed for the joystick (except for the rumble, which I didn't want anyway).
More recently I've been able to try this with the actual Wii U system. Again, no issues. Works perfectly fine with Sm4sh, with no noticable latency. [I think my computer monitor adds more latency than anything else, honestly].

It worked perfectly fine for a while on my Nintendo Switch when in WiiU mode when docked, but has randomly stopped working entirely and the switch cant find the controllers at all. I checked to see if it was my controller but they still work perfectly well on my Wii so I don't know what is going wrong. I tried to find other people having the same issue as I am but haven't found any others.

I bought this to see if I could get it to work with RetroPie on a Raspberry Pi 2. In the end I did, thankfully! I nearly gave up trying to do so, but it's not too bad to get it working.
It will not work 'out of the box'. Some items of note to get it working.
1. Make sure it is in Wii mode.
2. You'll be better off using a Debian Jessie RetroPie image over the standard Wheezy image. Need a more recent version of the libusb to build the driver
3. Find and build ToadKing driver from Github. You will need to install some extra packages in order to build it, namely libusb-1.0.0-dev and libusb-dev and libudev-dev
4. You can test the driver from that point by making sure to run it using sudo and it will tell you if it's connected or not (if not, is it in Wii mode). If it is, you need to make the program run at startup. Search how to do that.
I am not sure the best way to configure this for RetroArch though. Enjoy your GC controllers!
